Interim Executive Director, Director of Philanthropy
Chris Schuler is a staunch brain cancer awareness advocate. He became deeply involved in the fight against brain cancer after serving as the primary caregiver to his late father, Donald Schuler, who was diagnosed with GBM in July 2021. That experience transformed his work and commitment to improving outcomes for patients facing devastating diagnoses.
Chris works closely with biotechnology companies, researchers, and patient advocacy organizations around the world, helping amplify their work and build strategic relationships that accelerate progress in treatment and care. He serves as Interim Executive Director, Director of Philanthropy at CureScience, where he helps advance initiatives focused on precision oncology, immunotherapy, and translational research aimed at improving patient outcomes.
In addition to his work at CureScience, Chris is a Venture Partner with Varia Ventures, supporting emerging venture funds that seek to identify and fund innovative discoveries focused on brain health and neurodegenerative disease. He also serves as an advisor to several emerging scientific and patient-focused initiatives, including Cancer Patient Lab and Anorca.ai, PharmaAcuity, helping connect research, innovation, and patient advocacy.
Before focusing full-time on health innovation and patient advocacy, Chris spent eighteen years as a successful philanthropic facilitator, raising millions of dollars for a wide range of causes and helping organizations build meaningful donor partnerships.
Chris is also deeply committed to service in his local community. An Eagle Scout himself, he volunteers as a Cub Scout leader, helping guide young people in leadership, character, and service while fostering a sense of adventure and curiosity about the world.
Chris continues as his Dad’s caregiver — caregiver to his life, legacy, and memory.
